Description Postmodern floor lamp “Milo” by Alesssandro Mendini for Segno, designed and produced during the late 1980s. The lamp features a multi-coloured enamelled aluminium body with a frosted spherical glass top. The metal shade can be turned around the glass sphere, and the light is dimmable using the small metal turn switch on the side. Mendini (1931 – 2019), was a well-respected Italian designer and architect who was particularly known for his avant-garde approach to design, combining elements of art and architecture, as well as for his vibrant use of colours and textures. His works covers furniture, objects, architecture and even clothing. Alessandro Mendini pieces’ form part of the permanent collection of several museums (e.g. the Centre Pompidou, Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of New York).
