Remove any unsound substance before applying with a broom or leaf blower. Simply shovel or pour the patch into the pothole directly from the container. If the fault is especially deep (over six inches), apply the patch in two-inch layers, compacting in between each layer. Place enough material in the pothole to create a slight “crown.” When completed, compress the patch with a pneumatic tamper. The area can then be opened up to traffic immediately.
