Description Different soil probes and tips are needed for different soil sampling conditions, from dry, hard soils to wet, sticky clay soils. The heavy-duty chromoly steel soil probe was designed specifically for wet, sticky clay soils; the inside diameter for the heavy-duty soil probe is slightly larger to reduce soil probe plugging. The heavy-duty soil probe, being tougher and less likely to bend, also performs well in dry or frozen soil conditions. Slotted and solid soil probes are available. Slotted soil probes allow easy visual inspection of each soil core. Solid soil probes have greater resilience, thus better suited to hard or stony soils. Soil samplers choose slotted or solid soil probes based on personal preference and soil sampling conditions. Length: 24 or 48 inch. Includes one (1) Quicktach collar.
