Description Maria Pergay, a French designer known for her innovative use of stainless steel in furniture design, was born in the 1930s and gained recognition during the 1960s. She was particularly known for her sculptural pieces that often both combined geometric, hard industrial shapes with bold organic elements. Her most famous works include the Ring Chair (1968) and the Flying Carpet Daybed (1968), which showcase her ability to transform industrial materials into elegant, almost futuristic designs. The Totem Lamp, here for sale, features a stainless steel shade and a polished bronze skull on the interior – the lamp embodies her signature balance between industrial precision and artistic impression.
